Lagos state is 50th, yes it was this same period that Nigeria had her civil war, dated back to May 27th 1967 which pen ultimately marked the creation of the state by decree of the Gown administration.
The celebration was unique as numerous programs were lined – up for the anniversary. In an approach for orderliness, the programs were lined – up into divisions, namely Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island and Epe. Each has a month to celebrate the founding of the state.
In addition said the commissioner for information Steve Ayorinde, “Equally more important, is the fact that we have succeeded in typing the year – long anniversary as a monthly show that symbolically revolved around the 27th of every month since may last year”, he asserted.

The state has blazed the trail in community security through the recently launched Neighborhood Safety Corporations, he remarked that when you hear the Governor about channelizing the waterways and expanding the jetties, opening new Bet corridor in Abule Egba to Marina proposing a 10 – lane super highway from Oshodi to International Airport Working on 3000 megawatts of electricity, creating a new small city within Ibeju Lekki with Airport and with her population of 21 million people gives signal that Lagos will soon become a modern city, with all developmental strategies being addressed by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode no doubt brings to memory the story of Lagos as MEGA CITY of Nigeria and Africa.
